I lead engineering teams and still write code myself: React, Node.js, PostgreSQL and AWS. 14 years of shipping production systems, mostly in healthcare and finance.
I work from the first idea through to production: deciding what to build, making the trade-offs, shipping it, and keeping it running afterwards. I like simple solutions and will argue for them until the problem really needs something bigger.

Provet patient portal
A new booking portal for vet clinics, built by the team I lead. Most clinics moved across from our older product, and it now takes 21,000+ bookings a week with a 4.6/5 rating from users. I set up the AWS infrastructure, CI/CD and monitoring, and still keep them running.

My own ERP, built and still run by me alone. In daily use since 2017, with €17M+ invoiced through it. I wrote the first version about ten years ago and it still runs on AngularJS, with some choices I wouldn't make today. It's not perfect, but I'm proud of it.

Side projects
Outside of work I build small things with AI, mostly to relax and to try architectures I'd never get to use on the job. I decide what to build, which data to use and how the pieces fit together; the AI writes most of the code. Each one starts from an itch I actually have, and stays live because I keep using it.
Mushroom map
A map of my home town and eight other municipalities in southern Finland that scores every forest stand for how likely it is to grow chanterelles and funnel chanterelles, built from real forest inventory data instead of guesswork. I took it as far as I could: forest and soil data, plus real sighting reports from laji.fi as training data. It worked: I found a good amount of mushrooms on the first attempt.

Soil moisture, light, temperature and humidity from a houseplant, measured by an ESP32 microcontroller with sensors. I've always been just a software guy, and it was really fun to venture into hardware. Over-engineered on purpose: readings are pushed live over WebSockets from two API instances that a chaos monkey kills at random, and change data capture copies every reading from Postgres into ClickHouse for the long-term charts.
